You may remember that last time I revealed a SNEAK PEEK of what new project I was starting.... Well are you ready to see the result?!
Hand-Carved Stamps!!!
Hand-Carved Stamps!!!
Ok, I'll be completely honest, these (above) were not the result of my first attempt, even if my unreal expectations were that the first one I did would be completely perfect. What can I say, I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my hobbies! The Yarn Star was my 2nd carving attempt and the Heart was my 3rd. The flower design followed, which needs a little work as I ended up cutting off parts of the design that I hadn't meant to. So I plan on re-doing that one in the near future. And the Crochet Skull was my 5th carving attempt. It is the redo of my very first hand-carving stamp attempt which you can see below. Not the greatest but it was a start!
All of the stamps that I carved were all from my own original sketches and drawings. Some of them just hanging out in my sketchbook, waiting for their purpose! I have quite a few tattoo and henna inspired drawings that I have from my current and former professions that I plan on turning into rubber stamps. So look for those in the future! Here is the last stamp that I completed yesterday. A little tougher working with words, but you gotta start somewhere!
Tattoo inspired.

So what inspired me to try my hands at rubber stamps? First and foremost I have what other fellow crafters call Hobby A.D.D or in simpler terms, I just can't stick with one hobby!!! I like to dabble in lots of different mediums and I'm sure that will never change! My mom and I used to do Stampin' Up when I was younger and she even had her own home-based stamp store, but I never really knew you could carve your own stamps!!! I just knew this was going to be something that I HAVE to try!
But the real reason I picked this new medium is due to the awesome lady behind Hoffee And A Nuffin!!! The minute I found her Facebook page I was in awe. She beautifully carves stamps of her own design and they are AMAZING! She also offers wonderful tutorials for creating with stamps on her Blog. Oh and her hand-made Sock Monkeys are ADORABLE! I definitely recommend checking out her pages!
I hope you enjoyed my new creations! I hope to share more with you in the future!
